Commencing in July 1983, an investigation was undertaken on the request of the Palmerston Development Authority to establish the groundwater resources of Driver, Gray, Moulden and University of the Town of Palmerston. The purpose of the work was to provide irrigation water for community parks, gardens, schools ovals, nursery, golf course, public ovals and topping up Marlow's Lagoon. During this investigation 26 u=investigation bores holes were drilled, of which four were constructed as production bores capable of supplying 2330 KL/day. All the remaining investigation bore holes were completed as observation bores to monitor the water levels and quality.
