The Dragons, led by returning captain Drew Tobin, will be looking to defend their premiership victory but their four competition opponents (South Darwin, Casuarina, University and Palmerston) will be keen to upset the party. First to face Darwin will be the South Darwin Rabbitohs, led by Brett Joyes who will be Dragons marked men more than happy to exact revenge for last years grandfinal defeat in the first round. Were the target this season, everyone will be looking to knock us off. We just have to maintain and keep our Agrade game up, Maher told the NT News. Its been a good, tough preseason. Weve been getting some kilometres in our legs and getting ready for that grand final rematch. I think that first match might get quite heated and physical but I am looking forward to it. The Hahn Super Dry A grade competition officially kicks off on Saturday, with Casuarina and the Pirates also set to face off. The Swampdogs have dropped back to B-grade, where they compete against Palmerston who have a bye in the opening weekend. NTRU CEO Tamie Needham was pleased to welcome teams competing in all divisions of the sport from junior grade to senior. Theres a position on the field and a format of the game for everyone so we look forward to welcoming our returning players and encouraging new faces, she said.
