This report presents the findings and recommendations of a sub-project (B) within the Darwin Harbour Integrated Marine Monitoring and Research Program (IMMRP). The aims of the project B are to enhance the knowledge base for a long-term mangrove monitoring program, and develop remote sensing methodologies to assess spatial and temporal changes in mangrove extent and condition. The classification algorithms developed in this study provide an accurate and consistent mapping product to assess change in mangrove extent through time. They can be used to assists in identifying and understanding the natural or anthropogenic processes driving changes in mangrove forest extent.,
