Media advertising blackout Johnston by-election An advertising blackout period for television and radio commences at midnight on Wednesday, 26 February until the close of voting at 6:00 pm on Saturday, 29 February. View page 10 of the Australian Communications and Media Authority Political and election matter guidelines for more information. Note: The media advertising blackout period does not apply to Local Government (Council) elections (i.e. the Lyons Ward by-election). Defence Expos in Darwin and Katherine NT Electoral Commission staff work at the Defence Expos in Darwin and Katherine. Northern Territory Electoral Commission (NTEC) staff attended Defence Expos in Darwin and Katherine earlier this month. Engagement from newly arrived to the Territory Defence Force families was encouraging with more than 50 people updating their enrolment online at the stall and many more taking hard-copy forms home to complete. The expo also provided the NTEC with the opportunity to explain to Tindal residents the change to their electoral boundaries, which will see them move from the division of Katherine to Arnhem for the Territory Election in August.
