West Arnhem Wire - Fortnightly news in brief from Jabiru, Gunbalanya, Maningrida, Warruwi and Minjilang The West Arnhem Wire | 11 - 23 July 2020 10 SPORT 2020/21 SEASON AGM Jabiru Bombers 6:30PM Wednesday 19th August at the Golfie We NEED MORE COMMITTEE MEMBERS, please come on down. You dont need any special skills or have to know anything about footy. The mid-year school holidays in Jabiru were action-packed with new activities and some old favourites for the young people in the community to enjoy. As well as the popular 'arts and crafts' activities at the Library, the holiday program run by West Arnhem Regional Council's (WARC) Sport and Recreation team featured a Mad Hatters Tea Party which brought children of all ages together, including visitors to the community. The exciting event included a morning of fun and games. WARC's Youth, Sport and Recreation Team Leader in Gunbalanya Kellum Steele also visited Jabiru to facilitate a junior lifeguard, water sports activity and a family fun day at the pool. Kellum also kicked off the holidays' favourite activity laser tag. WARC will guarantee that Ebz will be running this activity again at the annual Halloween Disco! The young people were also lucky to have a visit from Golf NT to help improve the game of the Jabiru junior golfers and anyone wanting to participate can sign up to My Golf this term at the Jabiru Golf Club. In the last week of the holidays, Corrugated Iron facilitated drama and interpretative art sessions which encouraged participants to be involved in brain games and impromptu skits. This encouraged individuality and personal experiences. WARC would like to thank the service providers and community members which collaborated, volunteered and donated to help make these programs possible.
