West Arnhem Wire - Fortnightly news in brief from Jabiru, Gunbalanya, Maningrida, Warruwi and Minjilang 6 The West Arnhem Wire | 18 September - 9 October 2020 Jabiru community twilight soccer will begin during the second week of Term 4, (21 October) and will be played on Wednesday nights. If you would like to play, registration forms need to be handed into the Council office or emailed to Ebz by Wednesday, October 14. If you do not have a team and would like to play, please contact Ebz on 0455 479 915. There will also be a Benchwarmers team for anyone that would just like to come for the occasional game. Jabiru community sport encourages a sport for all mentality to motivate all levels of ability to participate for mental health, physical health and social involvement. None of these activities could be possible without the help and support of the community and volunteers. West Arnhem Regional Councils Youth, Sport and Recreation team would particularly like to thank the volunteer referees for their time and effort over the season and Jabiru Foodland, Bushratz and Stars Academy for their help with the grand final barbecues. ENCOURAGING 'SPORT FOR ALL' West Arnhem Regional Council Deputy Mayor Anna Egerton, Chief Executive Officer Daniel Findley and Executive Manager Office of the CEO Brooke Darmanin recently met with Minister for Local Government, Minister for Remote Housing and Town Camps Chansey Paech. The group spoke about opportunities and challenges in West Arnhem and agreed to work closely with Minister Paech and the Department to find solutions which will benefit the region.
