I hope to be in a position shortly to let you know the result of that review. Shortly after Mr Ramm's trip to Darwin 1 received a convoluted letter from Territory Transport and Works Minister Fred Finch raising some of the concerns already being addressed by my staff and the FAC. The letter from Mr Finch sparked a stream of correspondence between us. Mr Finch has also convened a public meeting at the Darwin Aero Club. I understand no new concerns were raised at the meeting, but Mr Finch has decided, according to public statements, to write to me yet again to "relay the confusion and concern amongst the general aviation industry regarding their relocation to the new Darwin airport." I have enclosed the correspondence which has flowed between Mr Finch and I on these issues as your club is mentioned in some detail. You will gather from the letters that I have reservations about the ability of Mr Finch to present the facts. I have received briefings from some operators about the meeting but I note from your club's latest newsletter that there will be a detailed report on the move to the Northside at your AGM on September 27. I would be happy to attend the meeting if you felt it would help clear up any issues arising from the meeting, contained in the correspondence, or which might arise between then and now.
