Abstract
Invasive group A streptococcus is defined as the isolation of group A streptococcus from a sterile site. Manifestations range from cellulitis with bacteraemia to endometritis, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, bacteraemia with no focus, pneumonia, meningitis and, at the most severe end of the spectrum, necrotising fasciitis and streptococcal toxic shock syndrome. This guideline outlines the public health response to individual cases and outbreaks.,
