04 NEWS WEDNESDAY APRIL 28 2021 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 India flights to resume sooner than expected Aussie IPL cricketers to quarantine at Howard Springs THE fate of two Australian cricketers who pulled out of the Indian Premier League due to the COVID-19 tsunami in the country is unclear, after all repatriation flights from India to Australia were paused until May 15. Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson, who grew up in Darwin, are the latest Australians who have chosen to return to home soil amid the outbreak. However, the pair will have to spend 14 days at the Howard Springs quarantine facility when they return because cricketers are currently not granted special dispensation from border Australian closures. They join Andrew Tye, who was the first Australian to announce hed be returning from Australia, with 350,000 new cases recorded in India in the past day. David Warner and New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson posted to Instagram a picture of them in full PPE complete with hazmat suits on board a flight in India at the weekend, showing how the cricketers travelled within the country. Kolkata Knight Riders and Australian bowler Pat Cummins posted on Twitter that cricket still had an important role to play in India despite the outbreak and he donated $50,000 to assist Indian hospitals. Cummins is joined by Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Marcus Stoinis, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Dan Christian, Moises Henriques, Chris Lynn, Steve Smith, Ben Cutting, Daniel Sams and Jason Behrendorff in India.
