Biographical notes
Arthur Mullins was a wharf labourer working with the No. 2 gang, which was engaged in unloading cargo from the Barossa on 19 February 1942. According to an article published in the Courier Mail on 8 October 1942, Mullins was pushing railway trucks on to a turntable on the right angle of the Darwin Wharf, the section of the wharf which was demolished by one of the first bombs. No trace of him was found.
Mullins left behind his wife Lilly Olive Mullins of Ann Street, the Valley, Brisbane, the sole beneficiary of his will. Months after the bombing, Mullins' death had still not been confirmed due to difficulties determining who had been working on the wharf that day.
In October the Courier Mail reported that Mr Justice Mansfield gave leave to Lilly Mullins to swear to the death of her husband, Arthur Alexander Mullins, labourer, of the Valley, Brisbane.,
