History

Prior to the Second World War, Larrakia conducted fisheries and security patrols along the north coast of the Northern Territory and was responsible for the apprehension of a number of illegal pearling and fishing vessels. One of these arrests resulted in a controversial case before the Supreme Court in Darwin. During the war, she provided transport and support to various Army detachments in preparing defence sites around Darwin. Larrakia was in Darwin Harbour on 19 February 1942.,
