History

In December 1941, Warrego was despatched to Darwin for patrol and escort work. On 16 February 1942, Warrego, Swan, US Houston and the Peary unsucessfully escorted a convoy bound for Timor. They returned to Darwin and were bombed on 19 February by the Japanese. Warrego was the first to open fire on the enemy and sustained no damage. She continued with patrol and escort duties. On 21 February 1943 when escorting SS Maetsuycker from Onslow to Darwin, the sloop was attacked by a single Japanese aircraft. Warrego visited Darwin 5 times with her last visit in February 1944.,
