52 SPORT SATURDAY, JULY 31, 2021 NTNE01Z01MA - V2 PATRIA ($3) Race 3, No.4 CONSISTENT galloper who seldom runs a bad race. Looks well-placed here over his best trip of 1200m, at which he has won four times. Drawn to get a nice run in transit and trainer/rider combination on fire of late. LITTLE TOWN BLUES ($1.70) Race 5, No.1 LET the side down last time when slowly into stride. Ran his first 600m in 33sec, and couldnt sustain the gallop over the concluding stages, going down to Global Wonder on July 24. If he jumps away with them, can make amends. THE CAPTAIN ($3.70) Race 7, No.1 GRAND old campaigner who deserves a win in the NTs biggest sprint. Just beaten last year in a grandstand finish, and drawn to make his presence felt again this year. RACE 4: $21,000 Aertex Maiden (1200m) YOSHI Toranaga made a big impression when runner-up here at his first Top End start on 24 July. With that run under the belt will be very hard to beat. Dream Weaver was a close-up fourth in the same race, and will make her presence felt, while Deep Seeded has ability and is way down in class from his last-start effort behind Our Luca. Legs Eleven is a consistent type who should not be left out, and Oliver Bullet looks an improver judged on his last-start fifth over 1100m. Extra 100m will help. SELECTIONS: 3 Yoshi Toranaga, 6 Dream Weaver, 1 Deep Seeded, 5 Legs Eleven, 4 Oliver Bullet RACE 5: $21,000 Mindil Beach Casino Resort TROBIS Class 2 Plate (1100m) LITTLE Town Blues blotted his copybook last time when slowly into stride, and was run down by Global Wonder. If he begins on terms, can return to the form which saw him bolt in first-up here on 10 July. Wild Rover trialled well here a couple of weeks ago and is a winner on the Pakenham synthetic surface. Will give the favourite plenty of opposition. Mister Monaro was just collared here by Shenanigan City on Wednesday. The Albion was a long-priced winner on debut, while No Nay Emerald is a first starter in the Top End with a win at Mornington two starts back. SELECTIONS: 1 Little Town Blues, 6 Wild Rover, 2 Mister Monaro, 5 The Albion, 8 No Nay Emerald RACE 6: $21,000 Ascend Sales Trophies Handicap (1000m) BEERMINT has gone three good races in the Top End this campaign, and his last-start third to Snows Bro was excellent. Drops in grade and gets his chance for a well-deserved win. Familja is racing in great heart and is chasing a fourth successive win. Trip suits and will take plenty of catching. Loki Patera is a newcomer to Darwin but has decent Tasmanian form to recommend and bold run would not surprise. Hattan Man often bobs up in a race like this, while Power Rush was a strong winner last time out in 0-58 company on 24 July and can go on with it. SELECTIONS: 2 Beermint, 3 Familja, 6 Loki Patera, 7 Hattan Man, 8 Power Rush RACE 7: $135,000 bet365 Palmerston Sprint (1200m) TOP field assembled for the NTs biggest sprint contest, and The Captain will take plenty of beating. Grand campaigner who deserves a major win and his last-start effort was first class. Just pipped in this race last year. Alpha Sky caught the eye when hitting the line strongly here on July 14, and has the services of Jason Lyon here. Will be storming home late. Smuggling was close up in this race last year without much luck, and the Pioneer Sprint winner is on track for another bold showing, while Mayameen is a 3yo filly who has impressed all with her toughness. SELECTIONS: 1 The Captain, 8 Alpha Sky, 2 Smuggling, 12 Mayameen, 9 Bolt I Am THE NT S RACING EXPERT ANDREW OTOOLE ANALYSES TODAYS RACING ACTION P21 FORM GUIDE RANDWICK Race 5, No.2 Catapult $11 $5.50; Race 7, No.2 Surf Dancer $6-$4; Race 8, No.8 Miss Dior $7.50-$5.50.
