History
The Unit was formed on 28 June 1940 in Victoria. They departed from Victoria on 28 June 1940 for Brisbane where they embarked on HMAT Orungal on 1 July, finally marching into Larrakeyah Barracks on 14 July. They built searchlight emplacements at Peanut Farm, Quarantine, Ironstone, Lee Point , Nightcliff, Fannie Bay, Dripstone, Leanyer, Bagot, Emery Point and Dudley Point. Their headquarters was at McMillan. The Unit returned to Melbourne in the first half of 1943, where its personnel were transferred to other batteries. The replacement operators were AWAS and VDC.,
