The Unit was formed in South Australia in February 1941 as a militia unit. it was initially called 8 Reserve Motor Transport Company. It was renumbered 108 in 1941 and in July 1942 it was renamed again to 121 Australian General Transport Company. It provided transport from Alice Springs to Darwin.,
