This Unit received orders on 6 December 1941 to move from Warradale in South Australia to Darwin. They completed the move to Noonamah by 22 December 1941. The Battalion established its first camp 200 yards north of McMinns Lagoon Railway Station at the 20 Mile in early 1942.,
