52 SPORT SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2021 NTNE01Z01MA - V1 RACE 2 $17,500 Tschirpig Conveyancing Handicap (1100m) MR Boomjangles, although burdened with 61.5kg, the top-weight drops back sharply in grade and would only have to put his best foot forward to be hard to beat here. Against The Tide battled away last start after being caught wide, and drops back in trip here, while Active was scratched at the start a week ago after parting company with his rider en route to the barrier. Sedona went a good race for second to Our Sustar at Katherine and must be considered in this line-up, while She Shines Bright is another who should be included in multiples. Crazy Lad is not the worst either. SELECTIONS: 1 Mr Boomjangles, 4 Against The Tide, 6 Active, 3 Sedona, 7 She Shines Bright, Crazy Lad RACE 3 $22,000 National Seniors Australia Top End Branch Handicap (1300m) AUTOCRATIC is a talented but enigmatic galloper, however, over his favourite trip of 1300m, can bounce back to his best here for the leading trainer and jockey. Weapon downed the smart Syncline over this trip on Cup Day, and looks a leading light again. Royal Rumble impressed with his finishing effort when fourth to Exact Replica here a week ago, and with an extra 300m to run here, should be hitting the line hard. Orcein, formerly trained by Chris Waller, is a newcomer to Darwin and is a must watch having his first start on the track. SELECTIONS: 2 Autocratic, 4 Weapon, 3 Royal Rumble, 5 Orcein RACE 4 $19,500 The Makrylos Group Handicap (1200m) SHENANIGAN City created a good impression when winning on Day 6 of the Carnival at his first Top End start. Had decent Victorian form prior to coming to Darwin, and can go on with the job. Lido Beach has been good in his two Top End starts, and back to 1200m here after finishing second over 1100m at Katherine, should make his presence felt. Vunivalu must always be included in a race of this nature his recent form has been consistent while Global Wonder won two starts back beating Little Town Blues, and is another who must be considered. SELECTIONS: 4 Shenanigan City, 2 Lido Beach, 7 Vunivalu, 5 Global Wonder, 8 Dizzy Miss Lizzy RACE 5 $17,500 Advance Civil Engineering Handicap (1600m) TRICKY affair to complete the quaddie over 1600m. Top-weight Comogli was an impressive winner, by over seven lengths, at Katherine last time and has been given three weeks to get over that effort. Drawn awkwardly but must be hard to beat again. Soldierofthebrave is a consistent type and raced well without winning during the recent Darwin Cup Carnival. He should give a good account of himself. Dliva doesnt win out of turn but could be a chance here at longer odds, while Taciturn has won five times over this trip and has found a winnable race. SELECTIONS: 1 Comogli, 2 Soldierofthebrave, 12 Dliva, 3 Taciturn PRINCE RUBAN Race 1, No.2 LAST two runs have been full of merit and the sign of a coming winner. Drops back 100m in trip to this 1200m, but with Jarrod Todd aboard and back in his right class, looks very hard to beat. MR BOOMJANGLES Race 2, No.1 CAPABLE galloper on his day who has been racing in stronger fields than this of late. Drops back to BM54 company here and freshened since last racing over 1300m, so 1100m looks likely to suit. Top-class hoop aboard. SHENANIGAN CITY Race 4, No.4 IMPRESSED when winning his first start in the Top End on Day 6 of the recent Darwin Cup Carnival, and can go on with the job. Up in grade here but Gary Clarke/Todd combination needs no introduction and can make it two from two in Darwin from a middle draw.
