Clontarf do amazing work educating young men and helping them into employment pathways. Thanks for for outlining the terrifi c work you continue to do in this space. North Australian Climate Program Thank you to Dr Chelsea Jarvis and Dr Alison Kane for your presentaions at the Northern Australian climate program. It was also a pleasure to catch up with climate program offi cer Emily Hinds. As the Shadow Minister for Climate Change, I found it an extremely informative day! Carers NT It was a real privilage to be able to help cook the barbeque for Carers NT who held their Family Fun Day at the Alice Springs Aquatic and Leisure Centre on 10 October. It was lovely to meet Wendy who was down from Darwin to support the event as part of National Carers Week. Carers NT do a fabulous job, I have such admiration for those who take on the role of care giver. Alice Springs Quilting Club Exhibition On 9 October I attended the Alice Springs Quilting Club Exhibition at Whichettys Art Space. As Mayor Paterson said as he opened the exhibition You wouldnt expect to see two 30 year olds at a quilting exhibition on a Friday night - but thats exactly where we are! Well done to all involved, it was a very impressive display! Sponsorship I would like to thank Jennifer who reached out to my offi ce seeking assistance with obtaining her Bronze Medallion so she could get back into the Police Force. It is a service where more people are needed so it was an honour to have the opportunity to help someone from the Braitling electorate who is working towards achieving their goal. Well done Jennifer and all the best with your dreams. Heart Foundation Australia On 23 October we celebrated 10 years of the Heart Foundation Australia Alice Springs Waliking Group. Congratulations to everyone who has had a hand in making this such a successful program. It is not just about walking to stay healthy, it is an amazing group of people who support and encourage each other. I try to get there whenever I can and invite you to come along. The group meets at 7am every Saturday, usually at the Town Council car park. To keep up to date on the groups activities, contact the Healthy Communities initiative at the Alice Springs Town Council and they will put you on their email list.
