The Miles Hawk Major aircraft ZK-ADJ of New Zealanders, Squadron Leader M. C. McGregor and H. Walker who entered under Race No2 in the Handicap section of the 1934 Centenary Air Race from England to Australia. Sponsored by the Manuwatu Aero Club the aircraft was one of the two New Zealand entries. Walker was Captain of the Manuwatu Aero Club whilst McGregor had served in No 85 Squadron RFC during WW1, later joining the RNZAF, before becoming chief flying instructor at the aero club at Manuwatu. The pair departed Mildenhall at 0642hr on 20 October and arrived in Darwin at 2155hrs on 25 October; they departed the following morning, arriving in Melbourne at 2150hrs on the 27th taking 5th place on a corrected time of 82hrs 43mins 34secs.,
