68 SPORT Saturday, May 21, 2022 NTNE01Z01MA - V2 Race 3: Class 2 Handicap (1200m) Champs DOr makes plenty of appeal here in a fairly even line-up. Was not far away last start in Alice Springs on Cup Day when fifth to Colhoun and looks well placed to break through here. Real Reason disappointed last time but prepared to allow another chance previous effort was super. Siakam ran down the track in his firstup run in Alice Springs in mid-April, but should be improved for that outing and raced well in the Top End last campaign. Maxaway hit the line well last time when second to the impressive Redwinelover and is another with claims here. SELECTIONS: 2 Champs DOr, 3 Real Reason, 1 Siakam, 5 Maxaway Race 4: 0-64 Handicap (1200m) Noble War (pictured) was an impressive winner second-up this campaign on May 7, and even though up in grade here, looks likely to go on with it. Top rider stays aboard and should be more improvement to come. Thunder Peak was disappointing last time out in the Queen of the Desert in the Red Centre, but earlier two efforts in Darwin were more than acceptable. Blueant has been below his best at his last two outings after a good win in mid-March beating Mini Boom he only has to recapture his best to be right in this. Obligatory can mix his form a little but on his day would be right in the finish here. SELECTIONS: 4 Noble War, 6 Thunder Peak, 3 Blueant, 2 Obligatory Race 5: BenchMark NT (1100m) First Crusade has done nothing wrong in his only two Top End starts to date, winning both in impressive fashion. Same trip again and up against his own age group, he should take a power of beating. Wilsons Prom is an interesting newcomer in the Gary Clarke stable. Raced in some good company in both Melbourne and Sydney and has had a quiet trial to ready him for this. Bold showing would not surprise. Super Famous raced well in four starts in Alice Springs, and cannot be left out of calculations, while Yaroomba did a good job when second to Rojo Boom in his only Top End start. SELECTIONS: 1 First Crusade, 3 Wilsons Prom, 2 Super Famous, 5 Yaroomba Race 6: BenchMark 54 (1100m) Chief Mondo chased home First Crusade last time out on Anzac Day, and has improved with every run in the Top End. Gives Paul Shiers another excellent chance of victory on the day. Stablemate We Will Remember fought on well enough for fifth behind Harpuna in Alice Springs, and must be considered here, while Star Of Monsoon is getting a bit long in the tooth these days but still possesses plenty of ability and could show up in this. Blueberry Boy and Koa are others with a chance in an even line-up. SELECTIONS: 2 Chief Mondo, 3 We Will Remember, 1 Star Of Monsoon, 4 Blueberry Boy, 5 Koa The NT s racing expert andrew o toole analyses saturdays darwin action P35 FORM GUIDE Doomben: Cafe Royal (R5, $10) Has a brace of wins and a good third from most recent outings. Wet track suits and looks ready for the trip now in the Pam ONeill Stakes. Morphettville: Savatoxl (R8, $10) looking to go back-to-back in The Goodwood and hitting form at the right time. DOOMBEN RACE 2 No.15 The Big Goodbye $5-$3.50 RACE 3 No.4 Zougotcha $2.60-$2.40 RACE 6 No.10 Gospodin $17-$11 RACE 9 No.2 Rubiquitous $7.50-$4.60 MORPHETTVILLE RACE 2 No.11 Extremely Lucky $1.70-$1.50 RACE 4 No.4 See You In Heaven $2.25-$1.75 RACE 5 No.4 Foxy Frida $3.50-$2.40 ROSEHILL RACE 2 No.5 Hardware Lane $4.20-$3.60 RACE 9 No.13 Quintello $2.80-$2.40 RACE 10 No.13 Skywolf $6-$3.90 FLEMINGTON RACE 2 No.1 Brosnan $4.80-$3.30 RACE 6 No.18 Coolth $5.50-$4 RACE 8 No.13 Tuvalu $3.25-$2.50 Picture: Greg Irvine/Magic Millions IMA PUPPET Race 1, No.6 Getting close to a win judged on her past two placed efforts. Yet to win over 1300m but has been placed at the distance, and with 55kg to carry, looks well placed. CHAMPS DOR Race 3, No.2 First Top End start but has had two runs on a similar surface in Alice Springs. Rider has been in good form. Hard to beat. FIRST CRUSDADE Race 5, No.1 Created an impression with two strong wins from as many starts in Darwin in April. Same trip of 1100m at which he has won his past two starts and is taking on his own age group here. In this small field, looks a top prospect.
