Abstract
This report presents findings from a soil and land suitability investigation of the northern Barkly region to identify areas with potential for irrigated agricultural development. Initial reconnaissance findings and collaboration with local pastoral companies identified five individual study areas for investigation, located on Eva Downs, Anthony Lagoon, Cresswell and Brunette Downs Pastoral Leases. All are accessible, close to existing infrastructure and were thought to have ‘better soils’. The combined study areas are representative of the wider northern Barkly region, and findings from the investigation will underpin and guide future agricultural development in the area.,
