Local hosts are the back bone of the Airbnb community, Airbnbs country manager for Australia and New Zealand, Susan Wheeldon, said. More than two years since the start of the pandemic, the travel revolution continues to unfold and the benefits of tourism are spreading further afield into regional Australia and New Zealand, and empow ering locals to earn a living and make ends meet. Other winners included Winged House, in Table Cape, Tasmania; The Container, a hydro-powered getaway in Lilydale, Tasmania; and the hosting efforts of Peter Clarke, of The Little Seed in Franklin, Tasmania. adella.beaini@news.com.au AUSSIES are turning stays in their own homes into five-star luxury experiences. It was important for us to Adella Beaini retain the integrity of the 160year-old barn wood so this was the focal point of our design, Ms Harris said. We knew everything else we chose from the paint to the furnishings needed to be neutral tones to highlight the old barn wood. We wanted the place to have a warm and inviting feeling to all who walked through the doors. Airbnb hosts in Tasmania came out on top, taking out three of the businesss five Host Awards categories.
