Abstract

Three soil pits were excavated on the Garabaldi Farm, adjacent to the Daly River, in a toposequence from higher land to near river level. The infiltration rate of the surface soil and at significant layer in the soil profile was measured using two 40 cm diameter rings and the oblique ruler method for water depth measurement. At each layer, three undisturbed soil cores (76mm diam x 50 mm) were taken from the wetted area after the infiltrometer test. The cores samples used thin-walled techniques conforming to the Loveday2 criteria.,
