Abstract
The controversy over the proposed replacement of Australia's HIFAR nuclear reactor involves conflicting groups, ideologies, and interests though there is no doubt that Australian doctors must have access to a wide range of radioisotopes, produced by the reactor, for use in nuclear medicine. The basis of opposition to the replacement is outlined and the technical issues explained.,
