"We want our kids talking Gurindji, Arrernte, Luritja, Warlpiri and then English! All our kids need to learn their own language first. it will keep their culture strong. I don't want our children to grow up lost and to not know where they come from, and their skin name. The Elders need to tell them their story so they know" [Marlene Runbuntja: artist, author and Children's ground leader]. Our Languages is a vibrant collaboration between Yarrenyty Arltere Artists and Ampe-kenhe Ahelhe (Children's Ground Central Australia) featuring 8 different languages spoken at Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). The soft sculptures featured in this book are made by the Yarrenyty Arltere Artists, a social enterprise started by the families of Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). They are the grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, aunties and uncles for the children who are learning and growing with Children's Ground. Using the soft sculptures as a guide, this book celebrates the 8 different languages spoken by children and families at Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp. Each language is colour-coded throughout this book.,
