English, Scottish and Australian Bank, Smith Street. Also known as the Tin Bank, built in 1883 after earlier tin and wood building was destroyed by white ants. Was occupied as a bank until World War 2, after which it was taken over by the NT News (1946-1968). Demolished in 1968 it stood on a site close to Brown's Mart, just visible on left of photo.,
